Christmas Eve 2019

Twas the afternoon before Christmas and all through memory care

The residents all had a smile to share.

Mom opened her gifts and ate some of her food

before declaring, ‘It was time to move’! (She was tired and wanted to go lay down)

Her crippled gait made walking a chore,

After 10 minutes we finally arrived at her door!

She stumbled and fell on top of her bed

My tears were happy, mom did not hit her head!

Her shuffle onto the pillow

was painfully slow!

She finally made it, took my hand and asked me not to go!

Within seconds she was nestled and snug in her bed

Making me wonder the visions ‘dementia’ puts in her head?

Christmas Eve and church are drawing near

My watch is warning me to get out of here.

It makes me cry, yet, I know it is for the best.

Today mom is confused, she needs her rest!

I’m not in charge of mom’s life plan

That is 100% in God’s hands!

My Faith, Hope and Love reside in Him!

That gives me peace to let the Christmas festivities begin!

The Journey Begins

Welcome to my journal blog.  As you read my entries, you will enter into the days I share with my husband, children, parents (understanding and living with my mom’s diagnosis of Alzheimer’s) dogs, family, friends and work.  Through my writings you will experience my good, bad, challenging, exciting, frustrating, joyous, sad and angry.  No matter the adjective used, when seen with your heart, there is always His love to experience.  Find a comfy chair or location  and join me on my journey called life!

The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes. – Marcel Proust
